Well trained staff, with refined skills and depth of knowledge, are the life blood of any company. Recognising this Norking Aluminium, one of the UK's largest curtain wall fabricators, arranged for 36 of its staff to study for the Production of Glass Supporting Fabrications NVQ Level 2 qualification. This specialist qualification is aimed at those fabricating products used in curtain walling, window frames and doors. With a core of mandatory units and a choice of optional units, the NVQ qualification is structured to be flexible and suited to candidates working on a wide range of activities across the industry.

Designed for those who are already experienced fabricators, NVQ Level 2 offers a recognised vocational qualification to complement practical skills and expertise. For some of the 36 experienced Norking employees it was their first vocational qualification. "The NVQ wasn't easy, there were no short cuts," says Clinton Rowe, fabrication team leader. "Achieving Level 2 has confirmed the skills I already have, as well as developing skills which will help with future construction projects."

With all 36 employees successfully gaining their Production of Glass Supporting Fabrication NVQ Level 2 qualification, Norking has set a record as having the highest number of people from a single company completing the Schueco assessed programme at one time.
